It’s a rarity that a game starts in one country and ends in another.
But that’s exactly the fate facing the Thunder Bay Border Cats and Duluth Huskies on Wednesday. The Northwoods League teams were three innings into a scheduled cross-border doubleheader at Port Arthur Stadium when heavy rains rendered the field unplayable.
The Huskies were leading the Border Cats 3-0, one batter into the top of the fourth, when the skies opened.
The two teams will resume play later Wednesday at Wade Stadium in Duluth, then play a seven-inning game to complete the twin-bill.
The league scheduled duel-city games for all 18 of its teams.
