Oscar Pistorius' agent says he is seeking a meeting with the double-amputee athlete in prison in the next few days to discuss his running future. South Africa's Olympic committee says Pistorius is ineligible to compete for five years.

Agent Peet van Zyl tells The Associated Press that lawyers will meet with Pistorius in prison on Friday, after which it will become clearer when Van Zyl and Pistorius' longtime track coach, Ampie Louw, can talk to him about his career.

Pistorius was this week sentenced to five years in prison for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

South African Olympic committee chief executive Tubby Reddy says the 27-year-old Pistorius cannot compete for the full five years of his sentence, even if he is released from jail early to go under house arrest.
