Wolves blown out on the road

KINGSTON -- It seems like the holiday break can’t arrive soon enough for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team.

KINGSTON -- It seems like the holiday break can’t arrive soon enough for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team.

The Thunderwolves (4-8-2) suffered yet another loss, a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of the Queen’s Golden Gaels at the Kingston Memorial Centre on Friday night.

After a scoreless opening period the Golden Gaels came out of the gates firing to start the second period, striking for five goals in the first nine minutes of the frame.

Andrew Wiebe, Patrick McGillis and Eric Ming all scored in the first 2:11 to give Queen’s a 3-0 lead and prompting Lakehead head coach Bill McDonald to call a timeout to try to stop the bleeding.

It was to no avail as the onslaught kept coming.

Wiebe added his second of the game while Darcy Greenaway and Tyler Moore rounded out the scoring.

Lakehead was outshot 37-22 in the contest.

The two teams face off again on Saturday night.
