A three-under 69 on Sunday ensured the Thunder Bay golfer a second-straight trip to the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada event, edging Walter Keating Jr. by two strokes in the two-day Keg District Open championship.

It was Untinen’s first District Open crown.

He finished with a two-day 140 total. Evan Degrazia and Rollie Turrie tied for the third, 10 shots off the lead at 150.

Local golfers will have one more chance to qualify for the Staal Foundation Open on July 13, when 10 golfers will earn spots at a qualifier being held at Strathcona Golf Course.
