THUNDER BAY -- Anthony Putrus knows how to win.

A member of the Thunder Bay Chill’s 2008 Premier Development League championship team, Putrus is returning to the fold after a five-year absence.

“I am really looking forward to coming back this season. I feel great and I’m so much healthier now than back in my previous days with the Chill. As you get older it is important to know how to look after yourself and hopefully I will bring it every night,” Putrus said in a release issued on Tuesday night.

The veteran, a chiropractor by trade, has spent the last four seasons overseas.

He’s a welcome addition, said Chill coach Gil Petraglia.

“We are certain that we have surrounded us with a true team leader and very talented player,” Petraglia said. “The Chilll coaching staff has recruited players strategically to help fill some of the holes from last season and move the team forward.

Putrus will put his skills to the test on May 28 and 29 when the Chill host the Winnipeg Lions in a pair of friendlies. He first arrived in Thunder Bay in 2007, playing three seasons before leaving for a year, returning for one more campaign in 2011. He scored seven goals in 53 career games.

Thunder Bay’s home opener is June 10 against the Des Moines Menace.
