Kombans win Ontario Manitoba Championship

The Thunder Bay Kombans celebrate after winning their second straight Ontario Manitoba Championship.

THUNDER BAY – For the second straight year, the Thunder Bay Kombans cricket team are Ontario Manitoba Championship winners.

The Kombans earned the win at Chapples Park Cricket Field on Sunday by winning the five-team tournament over the Winnipeg Lions.

The two squads had also squared off in last year’s final.

Kanish Sreeram of the Kombans was named the event’s most valuable player, while teammates Ashok Ramachandran and Abhiram Giri took home best batter and wicketkeeper accolades respectively.

Suresh Prajapati of the Thunder Bay Gujarat Lions earned best bowler honours and Sukhman Singh of the Winnipeg Lions received the best fielder award.
