Position Summary:
Featured Content Editor will be responsible for the creation and coordination of Newswatch’s sponsored content, reporting to the publisher and collaborating with the sales team. They will also work with the news team, reporting to the managing editor, on the Community Leaders Program to cultivate unique, engaging community-interest features. This role combines organization, leadership, and relationship building while developing and enhancing both news and creative writing skills.

Responsibilities:
Sponsored Content
• Write and edit all sponsored content to client specs and publication standards
• Coordinate approval of creative digital media with clients, customers and sales team
• Coordinate all promotion of content on social media
Community Leaders Program (CLP)
• Research feature ideas for CLP Program stories within Northwestern Ontario across the three Newswatch sites (TB, SN, NWO)
• Work with the managing editor to edit content prior to posting into the content management system
General
• Build out a Network of community members across Northwestern Ontario to assist in sourcing out story ideas
• Create, receive and schedule content into the content management system
• Thoroughly understand and effectively utilize the content management system in order to ensure category tags, sponsor tags, and other resources are utilized for maximum optimization
• Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects on the go at all times
• Meet deadlines and quotas as set out by the publisher and managing editor
• Work cohesively and collaboratively with other staff
• Manage posting of community generated content such as obituaries and notices
• Assist in other duties for the Newswatch websites as needed

Required Credentials & Skills:
• Live in Northwestern Ontario
• At least one year of experience in journalism or communications
• Exceptional writing and editing skills
• Superior organizational capacity and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
• Experience with photography and knowledge of editing software
• Flexibility to work a variety of different shift schedules, including nights and weekends
• A valid Ontario driver’s license
• The ability to meet tight deadlines
