Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Executive Director or designate, the Director of Child Welfare is responsible for the operations of the child welfare program. As a dynamic leader, the Director will ensure the agency is complaint with western practice under the Child Youth Family Services Act. As a key contact for the agency, the Director will collaborate with First Nations exercising jurisdiction to support the operationalizing of agency support for implementation activities and protocol development to enact community-based laws. Of paramount importance is the safety of children and families and as a leader, the Director will implement policies and practice enhancements that will support positive outcomes for children youth and families receiving services from Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. Inclusiveness, integration and cultural safety are key responsibilities to enable a safe and respectful environment for people to access helping services. The Director of Child Welfare will be responsible to lead communication processes that ensure seamless delivery of services from intake to discharge that is respectful of our legal obligations and complaint with First Nation desires as we collaboratively transform the service system.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Master of Social Work (MSW) or Honours Bachelor of Social Work (HBSW) preferred
Or a undergraduate degree or diploma with five (5) or more years of direct service with Anishinabek children, youth and families in the child welfare sector
Pathways certification an asset
RSW designation in good standing an asset
Five (5) or more years direct service with Anishinabek children, youth and families in child welfare services, experience in health and social services would be an asset
Three (3) or more years’ management and supervisory experience in child welfare
Ability to work flexible hours as determined by the Executive Director or designate in relation to service requirements
Must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle
A criminal records check is required

Hours of Work: 35 per week
