Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Primary Team Manager, the Primary Care Team Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) will work collaborative with the other members of the Primary Care Team, and other Health Services programs, to continually assess current program delivery and services and recommend and participate in new strategies in order to facilitate changes that will enhance patient care. The Primary Care Team Mental Health RN is responsible for administering and delivering mental health services to individuals and to communities. The Mental Health RN reports to the Primary Care Team Manager and is responsible for providing psycho-educational counseling to individuals and families with mental health concerns who are referred by the Primary Care Team providers.
Qualifications and Requirements:
This position requires an advanced degree in Nursing, Social Work or Psychology with additional training in crisis management and suicide prevention. The Mental Health RN will have an understanding of cognitive behavioural therapy, anxiety and depression management, and problem solving treatments. In addition, the Mental Health RN must have education and experience in program development and evaluation
One to two years’ work experience in a community based setting
Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary health services team
Satisfactory Criminal Records Search
Must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate
Ability to travel and work flexible hours as determined by the Service Manager or designate in relation to service delivery requirements
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week
