Dougall Media, Thunder Bay’s only locally owned broadcast/multimedia company, has a rare opportunity in our On-Air Operations team, as a Master Control Operator.

The Master Control Operator is tasked with following a traffic log to put programming and commercials on air, for both CKPR Television and Global Thunder Bay. This position will be responsible for signal quality to ensure video, audio, closed captioning, and descriptive video are correct and present. Communication with affiliates during live sporting events, and production of live News will also be required. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a high level of On-Air quality;
  • Continuous monitoring of audio, video, captioning, graphics, and descriptive video on both domestic and national feeds;
  • Troubleshoot and respond to third party clients, BDUs on outages;
  • Ensure programming, promotional and commercial content are consistent with scheduling;
  • Perform any live system switches as required; department on-air discrepancy reporting and follow-up;
  • Ability to work all shifts including weekend and night shifts;
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements for this position:

  • Excellent multitasking skills and great attention to detail;
  • Proficient computer skills;
  • Ability to work as an integral team member for both on-air operations and other departments in television;
  • Ingest of in-house commercials and programming to servers for playout;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
