Welcome to Halton Women's Place - Where Compassion Meets Action

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to providing a safe haven for women facing abuse and their children. Our story is rooted in the belief that every woman deserves to live a life free from violence and fear.

Since our inception, we've dedicated ourselves to empowering women through comprehensive services and support. Our team of caring professionals offers a range of programs designed to address the immediate and long-term needs of survivors. From emergency shelter and crisis intervention to legal advocacy and counseling, we are here to help women rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

At Halton Women's Place, we understand that healing is a journey, not a destination. That's why our services extend beyond immediate crisis intervention to include educational workshops, support groups, and community outreach. We aim to break the cycle of violence through education, awareness, and community collaboration.

Understanding Abuse

Abuse is the attempt by one person to control another using fear, violence, or intimidation. It's not just physical; abuse can also be emotional, sexual, or psychological.

Emotional Abuse: Any words, facial expressions, gestures, or actions that humiliate, shame, intimidate, threaten, control, or destroy self-worth.

Sexual Abuse: Any unwanted sexual attention or conduct, including whistling, degrading remarks, sexual comments, touching, kissing, grabbing, or sex through the use of force, pressure, threats, or coercion.

Physical Abuse: Slapping, kicking, hitting, spitting, biting, pushing, shoving.

Abuse can also be economic, racist, sexist, homophobic, classist, or ethnocultural. At least one out of every four women in Canada is abused. This violence occurs regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, education, or financial status. If abuse happens once, it is likely to happen again with increased severity.

Our services include emergency shelter, legal support, children's programs, and more. We are dedicated to helping you navigate this challenging time with care and compassion. Remember, you are not alone, and there is hope.
