PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply and delivery of electricity and drinking water, and energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.

PUC offers a dynamic, challenging and rewarding work environment that encourages collaboration and innovative thinking. We are seeking a new member to join our Water Distribution Department. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong communication with an innate desire to learn and grow.

As the Labourer, WDO, your duties will include:
• Assist in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the water distribution system.
• Perform daily operation and preventative maintenance of equipment in an efficient and safe manner,
• Complying with all appropriate laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Assist in the development of job plans, traffic control plans, and the development of safe work sites.
• Communicate and interact with the public, government inspectors, contractors, and staff.
• Maintain logs and records.
• Participate in hydrant inspections, rebuilding, and relocation, ensuring compliance with operations and maintenance procedures.

Qualifications:
• At minimum, a Secondary school Diploma.
• Valid Water Distribution Operator certification is an asset.
• Hold and maintain a valid Ontario “DZ” driver’s license.
• Ability to read distribution maps, interpret and apply directions.
• Working knowledge of water distribution systems, controls, and related components.
• Knowledge of mechanics associated with leverage, human performance, hand, and mechanical tools.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team, take initiative and direction.
