Reporting to the Dean, the Computer Science Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in coordinating the undergraduate and/or graduate programs within the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology. This position is responsible for coordinating academic activities, providing student academic support, and fostering partnerships with industry, academic institutions, and key members of the AU community to enhance the academic experience and opportunities for students. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic Program Coordination (60%)
Coordinate the planning, development and implementation of academic programs within the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, liaising with faculty to ensure course offerings meet curriculum requirements and program goals.
Assist in the development, review, and implementation of course schedules, course rosters, program requirements, and curriculum updates, ensuring alignment with academic goals and compliance with accreditation standards.
Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and proposals for program reviews and development, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and external accreditation requirements.
Support faculty and students in navigating academic policies and procedures.
Track and monitor student academic progress and ensure compliance with program requirements, graduation criteria, and university regulations, in collaboration with the Registrar’s office.
Act as the primary point of contact for undergraduate and/or graduate students for program-related inquiries in the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, providing guidance on program policies, course selection, and program requirements.
Support students facing academic challenges and refer them to appropriate campus services (e.g., counselling, tutoring, career services).
Coordinate faculty advising sessions, as needed.
Work with the experiential learning department to recruit co-op replacements.
Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff about important program-related information (e.g., deadlines, course offerings, exams, policy updates).
Assist in organizing faculty meetings, departmental events, and academic workshops.
Maintain regular communication with central administration, ensuring the timely submission of reports, program evaluations, and accreditation documents.
Ensure smooth coordination between various academic and administrative departments to facilitate student success.
Maintain accurate records on student registrations, course enrollments, academic performance, and graduation status.
Track and monitor student attendance and participation in program activities.
Prepare reports and summaries on academic performance, program progress, and student feedback for faculty, department leadership, and external partners including accreditation bodies.
Provide data analysis to inform program development and improve student outcomes, incorporating feedback from industry partners.
Assist in the evaluation and continuous improvement of the undergraduate and/or graduate programs by gathering feedback from students, faculty, and industry partners.
Contribute to the design and implementation of new initiatives to enhance the academic experience for students, with a focus on industry trends and technological advancements.
Participate in faculty and departmental committees focused on curriculum development, academic quality, and student engagement.
Partnership Management and External Collaboration (30%)
Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry, technology companies, and academic institutions to enhance the student learning experience, including internships, co-op placements, and research collaborations.
Facilitate communication between the faculty and external partners to identify new opportunities for collaboration and partnership development.
Coordinate external guest speakers, industry panels, and networking events to support student career development and professional growth.
Assist in organizing and managing industry-academic events such as career fairs, hackathons, and technical workshops, ensuring strong participation from external partners.
Support faculty and students in accessing resources and opportunities provided by industry partners, such as internships, scholarships, and mentorship programs.
Organize academic and career-related events such as career fairs, hackathons, and networking sessions to enhance the student experience.
Support extracurricular activities, including student clubs, research collaborations, and industry-sponsored events.
Coordinate with student leaders and industry partners to create meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for students outside the classroom.
Provide general administrative support to the Chair and faculty members, including maintaining office supplies, managing student inquiries, and assisting with grading and course materials.
Handle special projects and ad hoc tasks as requested by department leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Education, or a related field, and a minimum of two (2) years experience in an academic environment or post-secondary institution supporting undergraduate or graduate students role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic academic environment.
Proven ability to develop and manage external partnerships and collaborations.
Experience working with industry partners, including technology companies, government agencies, and academic institutions.
Knowledge of student information systems and academic management software is preferred.
Familiarity with university policies and procedures related to academic programs.
Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience in coordinating academic programs within a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) faculty.
Knowledge of computer science curriculum and academic standards.
Experience in partnership development and management, particularly with industry partners in the tech sector.
Experience with data analysis, reporting, and academic assessment tools.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and liaise with a diverse range of individuals, including students, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
Salary Scale: $60,471 to $75,589 annually
