City removing snow in preparation for Scotties

Road closures and temporary traffic disruptions may occur in the area around Fort William Gardens.

THUNDER BAY – With the Scotties Tournament of Hearts kicking off on Friday, the city will be removing snow in the area of Fort Wiliam Gardens this week.

In a news release issued on Monday, the City of Thunder Bay said it will be “conducting extensive snow removal” and residents and motorists are advised road closures and temporary traffic disruptions may occur in the surrounding area.

Crews will be working to ensure “safe and accessible conditions for the event attendees and participants."

Eighteen teams from across the country will be competing for the title of Canadian women’s curling champions during the tournament. The final match will be held on Feb. 23.

Shuttles will also be available to the Fort William Gardens during the tournament.
