Dubinsky rink opens U18s with win over Quebec

SASKATOON – Claire Dubinsky and her team are looking to go out on a high as three of the four members of the team close out their junior careers.

Her foursome, who call the Kakabeka Falls Curling Club home, opened the Canadian U18 Girls’ Curling Championship on Monday in Saskatoon with an impressive 6-2 win over Levis, Que.’s Anais Morissette.

Team Quebec No. 1 opened with a steal of one in the first, but after blanking the second end, Dubinsky roared back with three in the third to take control of the match.

Dubinsky, lead Lily Ariganello, second Bella McCarville and third Rylie Paul then added a deuce in the sixth to go up 5-2 and stole a single in the seventh, putting the game out of reach.

Team Dubinsky will take on Prince Edward Island No. 1 on Tuesday morning and follows that with a game against Saskatchewan No. 2 in the evening draw.
