Day of Action supported the Dew Drop Inn

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Day of Action was on Saturday

THUNDER BAY — Member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades came together all across Canada for the union’s Day of Action.

In Thunder Bay, members teamed up with the Dew Drop Inn to serve the community.

“Today we are giving back,” said Andre Pellerin, business representative for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades local 1671.

He said the union has values that members put into action on Saturday afternoon.

“We're supporting the Dew Drop Inn, as we have many times before.

“This time we're serving the community where we live and work, so this is important to us. This is what we want to do.”

Pellerin said this initiative is going on across Canada and in the United States.

“This is our IUPAT Community Day of Action, something we do annually."

At the Dew Drop Inn, members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades served a lunch to the community.

“We're looking forward to it. We enjoyed helping Dew Drop Inn and it's a vital place in the community,” he said.

It felt good to be out in the community supporting the Dew Drop Inn, Pellerin said.

“I mean, we preach these values within our membership, but now we're putting it into action. We like to give back to the communities that we live and work.

“It brings everybody together and . . . showcases that we are more than just skilled tradespeople, we're also proud to be where we live.”
