THUNDER BAY - A youth from the Toronto area faces multiple charges after a disturbance at a southside residence which police believe had been taken over for drug trafficking.

The incident happened Friday afternoon in the 200 block of May Street South.

Police arrested a 15-year-old at the scene following a brief struggle.

While he was in custody, officers learned the accused had provided a false name, but an investigation revealed his true identity.

Police seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The youth is charged with drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, obstructing an officer, resisting an officer, being unlawfully in a dwelling and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

The accused appeared in bail court on Saturday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
