22 domestics, 17 assaults cap busy weekend for police

Police dealt with an incredibly busy weekend that saw 17 assaults and 21 domestic disputes.

Thunder Bay Police Service Media Release

The Thunder Bay Police Service responded to 532 calls for service this weekend during the time period of 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 and 6 a.m. on Monday October 31, 2016.

The calls ranged from liquor involved incidents and traffic enforcement to assaults and domestic violence incidents.

In total 18 individuals were taken into custody for Liquor Licence Act offences, 17 individuals were arrested and taken into custody for various Criminal Code charges.

An average weekend for the Thunder Bay Police Service can range from 300 to 500 calls for service that patrol officers must deal with.

This weekend was definitely on the high end of the spectrum and kept officers very busy trying to handle these situations, offer assistance to victims and keeping the community safe.
