63-year-old charged with impaired driving

THUNDER BAY – OPP officers conducting a RIDE program charged a driver with impaired along Highway 591 near Island Lake Road, outside the City of Thunder Bay, on Friday at around 10 p.m.

The officers determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages and placed the individual under arrest and took her to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 63-year-old woman from Thunder Bay was charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus); operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs; dangerous operation; novice driver - B.A.C. (Blood Alcohol Concentration) above zero and driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Sept. 4.
