THUNDER BAY — Hours after a two-week-old outbreak of COVID-19 on the second floor at St. Joseph's Hospital was declared over, a new outbreak has been declared.
This one is on the fourth floor of the hospital, and involves both 4 North (palliative and hospice care) and 4 South (transitional care).
As usual, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit did not disclose the extent of the outbreak in an announcement Monday afternoon.
The Ontario health ministry prescribes that a COVID outbreak must be declared when two or more patients and/or staff in a specified area test positive within a 14-day period, if both cases could have reasonably acquired the infection in the hospital.
