Abandoned south-end residence catches fire

The house on Bethune Street has been on fire in the past.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Fire Rescue attended a blaze on Tuesday at an abandoned house on Bethune Street.

Crews arrived at the partially boarded-up home on the 100 block of Bethune Street just after 8 a.m. with six pumpers, an aerial ladder, and a command vehicle. 

Firefighters doused the home before entering it to finish putting out the fire. The building was unoccupied, and there were no injuries.

The empty home has been on fire in the past.

The Office of the Fire Marshal will not be investigating the blaze. 

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue would like to remind residents of the importance of working smoke detectors on all levels of the home.
