Jeffrey Miller was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Robenson Saint-Jean of Ottawa who was found injured in the Hilldale and Melbourne Road area on March 29, 2019.

THUNDER BAY - A man accused in the 2019 death of an Ottawa resident in the Hilldale Road area will stand trial later this year.

Jeffrey Miller of Thunder Bay is scheduled to stand trial by judge alone on Dec. 12, 2022 on the charge of second-degree murder.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service were first called to the Hilldale and Melbourne Road area on the afternoon of March 29, 2019 after receiving reports of an injured male.

The man, later identified as 21-year-old Robenson Saint-Jean of Ottawa, was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he died from his injuries.

Police arrested Miller on March 30, 2019 in connection to Saint-Jean’s death and charged him with second-degree murder.

Defense counsel George Joseph indicated there will be several applications heard during the trial, including an alternate suspect application, which will require a pre-trial hearing to be held in the fall.

The trial is scheduled for two weeks.
