A man involved in a high-profile assault case that was once alleged to be a gay bashing received an absolute discharge Friday.
The incident that led to Friday’s court decision took place on Labour Day weekend in 2009, when resident Jake Raynard was severely beaten in an altercation with several other men.
One of the people involved in the incident, an 18-year-old, was in court Friday on a charge of aggravated assault.
According to lawyer Tyler Woods, his client has been given an absolute discharge after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of common assault.
The youth must also post a peace bond.
Last May, Raynard also received an absolute discharge after pleading guilty to an assault charge for his role in the altercation.
