THUNDER BAY – Health authorities have confirmed four additional cases of COVID-19 associated with the St. Ann elementary school in Thunder Bay, after one case was reported earlier this week.
The new cases were not yet declared an outbreak as of Thursday evening, with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit still "investigating to see whether these incidents are related," according to a release from the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board.
Parents and guardians of students associated with the affected cohort were contacted Thursday, along with impacted staff, the board said.
St. Ann is one of five local schools where new COVID-19 cases have been reported this week: St. Martin elementary moved to at-home learning due to an outbreak that grew to 20 cases on Monday, a case was reported at Elsie MacGill elementary Wednesday, and cases were announced at St. Ignatius secondary and Gron Morgan elementary on Thursday.
