THUNDER BAY -- Jamie Kozub was excited to be part of a team that was bringing something new and different to his community.

Raised in Thunder Bay, the vice-president of business development and marketing for Aerosports Trampoline Parks said it's tough to walk away from the company's Thunder Bay park, which closed its doors for good Tuesday less than two years after it opened.

"Based on it not being profitable over the last few months. We tried making the best go we could here and we did have great support from the community but it just didn't end up being a profitable enough venture for us," Kozub said inside the park at Sportsdome.

"It's going to be sad for a bunch of people for sure."

Like any sporting venture, Kozub said there were some minor injuries at the park but closing it has nothing to do with liability claims or anything like that. The company has location in Oakville, Brampton and is expanding to several other cities soon. The Thunder Bay park just wasn't making money.

"It was for awhile but then it got to the point where we weren't doing the things that we needed to to sustain being open," Kozub said.

The front desk will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week so the company can issue full refunds for gift cards, events and upcoming birthday parties. Kozub encourages anyone who's owed a refund to come by. The company had more than 40 local employees.
