THUNDER BAY – Two teenagers face charges including aggravated assault after an apparent stabbing on the city’s north side over the weekend.
Police responded to reports of an assault at a residence in the 300 block of Bay Street, a stretch running north of Algoma Street, just after 11:10 p.m. on Friday.
Paramedics were already on scene when police arrived to find a male victim with injuries a Thunder Bay Police Service spokesperson said appeared to be consistent with a stabbing.
Those injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening.
Police also located a suspect at the scene and placed him under arrest “following a brief struggle,” the TBPS said.
The 18-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, and obstructing a peace officer.
A continued investigation also identified a second suspect, a 15-year-old male from Marten Falls First Nation, who was already in custody for breaching a release condition.
That second suspect was notified on Tuesday morning that additional assault charges had been laid, police said.
Those charges include aggravated assault, obstructing a peace officer, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Both of the accused remain in custody with a future appearance date.
