Thunder Bay police laid numerous charges over an alleged pepper spray attack.

THUNDER BAY — A woman is in custody after allegedly pepper spraying two people on the city’s south side on Thursday.

In a media release issued on Friday, police said officers were called to the area of May and Miles Streets around 11 p.m. on Thursday over a report that two people — a male and a female — were assaulted with mace.

They were able to provide a description of the suspect, police said.

Officers then came across a group of people, police said, and the accused was identified, arrested and taken into custody.

The 25 year-old was charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance, along with one count each of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breaching probation.

The accused appeared in court on Friday and remains in custody with a future court date.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
