THUNDER BAY — The manager of the Alstom rail car plant in Thunder Bay is the newest member of the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission's board of directors.

Lindsay Fenton's appointment was announced Wednesday by economic development commission board chair Barry Streib.

Fenton, who holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Lakehead University, was with Bombardier for 15 years, accumulating experience in various departments and advancing to become head of production.

In 2020, she was promoted from director of technical services to Thunder Bay plant manager.

After Alstom purchased Bombardier Transportation, the French-owned company appointed her the site managing director.

She previously served as a board member of the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre for two terms.

Fenton is also a 2015 graduate of Leadership Thunder Bay, a program that develops and nurtures leadership skills.

The commission said her wealth of knowledge in manufacturing and dedication to sustainability will be valuable assets.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lindsay Fenton to our board," Streib said.

"Her background, experience and enthusiasm will undoubtedly contribute to the success of our community and our journey toward successful economic development."
