THUNDER BAY — The Spring Home and Garden Show gives an opportunity to get out after the cold months and get new ideas related to home and gardening.
It will be held on the CLE grounds on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Many, many people are itching to get out of the winter,” said Peter Mersch, co-chair of the Spring Home and Garden Show.
“We just came through a couple of snowfalls and look at the weather this weekend, it's spectacular. I would like to see a lot of people from Thunder Bay come out, enjoy this show because it's been around for 27 years,” he added.
Lots of people attend the show with big ideas, he said.
“I think what happens is people, first of all, they have an idea as to what they want, whether it is outside work, a driveway or a patio or a deck. The other thing that happens at the show is you just walk around and you see things that are actually new, and it's one of those items that you just must have,” he said.
There are about 150 different booths set up, with between 5,000 and 10,000 people attending over the weekend, he said.
“I've been doing the show for 26 years. We started off small and then we got fairly large. We used to be in the dome as well, so that that was extremely large, but we've kept the numbers up.
“We have outside exhibitors to fill that void, so it's been pretty steadily the same numbers and I think the people just love to get out. And we love to see our friends,” Mersch said.
