THUNDER BAY – An armed standoff between city police and a male resident has come to a peaceful end.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were involved in a standoff in the 800 block of Minnesota Street Thursday afternoon.
The incident forced police to block off a stretch of Minnesota Street between Atlantic and Southern Avenues. Area residents were locked down for their safety.
Emergency Task Unit officers entered the home just after 3 p.m. and arrested the lone male without incident.
The 56-year-old man was escorted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre for observation.
Police say the area in question is now safe and open to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
