THUNDER BAY — A person has been arrested in connection with an assault on the city's north side that sent the victim to hospital with at least one serious stab wound.

Thunder Bay Police say the incident occurred in a residential area of Algoma Street North early Saturday morning.

Officers dispatched to the scene at about 3:30 a.m. located two individuals in the area, including an injured male who was rushed to hospital.

There is no word on his condition, but TBnewswatch learned through another source that the victim lost a significant amount of blood, and that police were alerted by calls from multiple residents of the 300 block of Algoma Street that a person was in trouble.

A 20-year-old woman was apprehended in the vicinity and charged with aggravated assault.

She appeared before a judge over the weekend and was remanded into custody with a date for a future appearance in court.
