THUNDER BAY — Police have made an arrest in connection with an incident at a north-side Thunder Bay home last month that left the owner shaken, and facing repair bills totalling several thousand dollars.
In the early morning hours of March 27, a woman was awakened to loud bangs coming from her backyard deck.
When she got up to investigate, she saw a man pull the screen door from her patio deck, then proceed to vigorously kick the glass door in an attempt to gain entry.
The woman, who was alone at the time, screamed at the intruder to get off her property, but he only casually left the yard and walked down the street.
Security camera video of the incident was posted on social media.
The homeowner, who had described the incident as "a terrifying experience," told Newswatch she received a phone call from an anonymous person about the identity of the suspect, which she then passed on to police.
Thunder Bay Police confirmed Tuesday they have arrested a 21-year-old city resident on a charge of committing mischief under $5,000.
The accused was released from custody on an undertaking, and will appear in court at a later date.
The charge has yet to be tested in court.
It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
