THUNDER BAY — Police have identified the victim of a homicide in Thunder Bay last month, and have released the names of two individuals wanted on charges of second-degree murder.
The body of 31-year-old Ryan Peter Legourrierec of Thunder Bay was found on the morning of Aug. 30 at a residence in the 300 block of Tamarack Place.
As a result of the investigation, two accused men have been identified.
According to TBPS, arrest warrants have been issued for Haratio Shawayahamish, 18, and Landon Achneepineskum, 20.
"We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating those individuals, while at the same time advising the public to please not engage with or contact those individuals should they be seen," said Det. Insp. Jeremy Pearson with the Thunder Bay Police Service
Pearson added that investigators have reasons to believe the two accused are still in the area but they also have ties to the Greenstone area and Sudbury.
And while the investigation is still in its early stages, Pearson confirmed that the homicide did not involve a firearm and does not appear to be related to the drug trade.
"While there was a weapon involved in this incident, it was not a firearm, so it was not a firearm related homicide," he said. "This particularly homicide we do not believe at this time was related to the illicit drug trade and rather was an altercation that stemmed out of an interaction."
It also does not appear there was any kind of history between Legourrierec and the two accused.
