Attempted murder charge laid after shooting incident

THUNDER BAY — Police have taken a Thunder Bay man into custody on a charge of attempted murder.

Josh Silva, 35, was arrested Wednesday following an incident in the 900 block of Simpson Street.

TBPS officers were dispatched to a residence just after 5:00 a.m. after reports came in about a possible gunshot.

Police arrested a suspect inside the home.

Silva is charged with attempted murder using a restricted or prohibited firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

A police spokesperson confirmed that no one was struck by a bullet in the incident.

The accused appeared in court Wednesday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

As the investigation continues, police are expected to maintain a visible presence in the vicinity.
