Michael Gravelle says he’ll take what he can get in the province’s new cabinet make up.

With Premier Dalton McGuinty saying his current 28-member cabinet will be smaller when it’s announced Thursday, the Thunder Bay – Superior North MPP said he’s just happy he was re-elected and will support whatever role the premier chooses for him.

Gravelle has spent the past four years as Minster of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry.

McGuinty is expected to reveal his new cabinet Thursday, Oct. 20.

“Anything that the premier chooses to ask me to take on in the future I will embrace with enthusiasm as I always have,” Gravelle said during a phone interview with tbnewswatch.com from Queen’s Park Wednesday morning.

Gravelle added that he is waiting like everyone else to hear what McGuinty’s plans are, which because of the minority situation has led to speculation about MPPs crossing the floor.

Gravelle said while he’s heard a lot of talk in Toronto recently, he doesn’t know what the future brings.

“It’s a very difficult job as premier to choose a cabinet. Obviously the situation we have now with a minority government is perhaps even more challenging.”

As for whether the North will see more or less representation in cabinet, Gravelle couldn’t say.

”It’s impossible for me to speculate on that.”

So far only Finance Minister Dwight Duncan has been confirmed in cabinet.

The Liberals currently have 53 seats in the legislature, one shy of forming a majority government.
