ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock Badgers were a little too powerful for the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night.

The Badgers (12-5) opened a 28-8 lead over the Thunderwolves women’s basketball team after one quarter and never looked back, going on to defeat the visiting LU squad 77-53, handing them a second straight defeat.

Lakehead did outscore the Badgers in the second and fourth quarters, but were outgunned 51-22 in the first and third, digging themselves too deep a hole to climb out of on the road.

Ally Burke led LU (3-14) with a dozen points and Spaniard Eva Guilera chipped in 11 off the bench.

Madalyn Weinert topped all scorers with 18 points and 17 rebounds, completing the triple-double with 10 assists. Angeline Campbell chipped in 16 for the Badgers.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night.
