Bannon’s ringing up the lowest gas price in the province

Bannon's new owner Kristofer Danielson said customers can expect gas prices to stay low.

THUNDER BAY – Bannon’s Gas Bar was busy with customers rolling in on Monday to fill their tanks with the cheapest gas in all of Ontario.

Kristofer Danielson, owner of Bannon’s, Mountain View and First Class Gas, said he's grateful to Thunder Bay for supporting a 100% locally owned business.

“I just wanted to say thank you first and foremost. Because it is the lowest in (Ontario), we've decided to become more competitive with the larger mega corporations.

“That's why mainly we're low, and to give back to the people. People are really happy coming here every day for cheap gas, I'm happy to provide that,” he said.

Danielson took over Bannon’s only a few weeks ago, and said the low prices are not just temporary.

“Definitely, it will be competitive. Usually on reservations, they are a little bit lower, the fuel prices.

“They definitely will be low and you can expect them to be low.”

The gas price was at 110 cents per litre at Bannon's, with a few nearby gas stations not too far behind.

Mountain View and First Class Gass, which are also owned by Danielson had gas at 111 cents per litre on Monday. K&A Variety had prices down to 115 cents per litre.

“Sales have definitely almost tripled since we've been the lowest. And obviously Bannon's is the very first store you see when you first come into the reserve.

“A lot of people conveniently just want to stop here, get their gas and smokes and then go about their day.

“That's sort of how the gas market has been going since lowering it to 114 per liter,” he said.
