The city’s North core business area was a hotspot during Day 1 of the Buskers Festival.
The fourth annual Valley Fresh Buskers Festival brought hundreds to the Bay and Algoma neighbourhood Saturday to enjoy a day of family friendly fun. The event continues Sunday, rain or shine, until 5:30 pm.
The two-day event features an array of local musicians, performers and venders of all varieties.
Festival coordinator Todd Shewchuk had some concerns with the lack of out of town entertainment at this year’s festival, but it didn’t seem to bother the festival-goers.
“I didn’t have that available to me,” Shewchuck said. “I booked mostly locals, and the turnout to see Thunder Bay entertainment is amazing.”
Organizers saw hundreds of people walking through the festival and they are expecting hundreds more Sunday.
The street fair features more than 40 performances, which rotate through ten stages located on Bay and Algoma Street. This year’s performances has some of the city’s favourites as well as plenty of new faces.
“What makes this a great festival is that it’s a family friendly free event, so you get a lot of people just coming out and celebrating the community.”
Shewchuk hopes everyone has the chance to come downtown and see what the city has to offer.
