Bear freed from tree

Residents of South Norah Street had a close encounter of the bear kind on Sunday.

Ministry of Natural Resources personnel used a tranquilizer dart to subdue a bear that was caught in branches of a neighbourhood tree, then Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue firefighters used an aerial platform to free the bruin and take him safely to the ground.

City police were also on scene.
