Bearskin Airlines is adding 23 flights weekly between its Sudbury Airport hub and other Northern Ontario communities, including North Bay, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay.

Add to that 37 additional connecting opportunities and the airline, in a release issued on Monday, said that new schedule will provide 60 new weekly flight options for passengers to the region's five major cities.

There will also be an increase of seven flights a week to Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Kenora, Dyden and Fort Frances.

"This is a signficant expansion of our service," said Ron Hell, Bearskin's director of marketing and sales. "Demand for our sevice in Northeastern Ontario has been growing as we continue to evolve our fare strategy to be more competitive in the marketplace, In addition, we are the only ariline serving these markets that does not charge for your first checked bag, providing for saving up to $35 each way."

The company says it has reduced fixed fares up to 60 per cent more than a year ago, and did the same to flex fares throughout the past 12 months.
