Sherida Ward has just joined the million-dollar club.
The 56-year-old mother of five learned she hit the jackpot when she played the encore portion of her Lotto 6-49 ticket during the draw on March 27. The numbers came up and she took home $1 million.
The news came as a surprise, she said.
“I’m elated,” she said in a media release.
“It’s hard to fathom that I just won $1 million. I was completely surprised.”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Good Luck Lottery Shoppe on Arthur Street. Encore gives players another chance to win a million dollars and can be played alongside most online lottery games.
She said she plans to use the money to purchase a new house and truck.
