THUNDER BAY – Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a Wednesday night detached garage fire at a residence on Blucher Avenue.

According to a Thunder Bay Fire Rescue release, issued on Thursday evening, the homeowner had unsuccessfully attempted to put the fire out prior to the arrival of firefighters to the scene.

No one was injured in the fire, which saw six pumper crews, an aerial ladder and the platoon chief respond, at about 6 p.m. on Wednesay.

The fire department wants to remind the public their first course of action in any emergency should be to first find safety and then call emergency services via 911.
