THUNDER BAY — The Bank of Montreal is building a new branch on Thunder Bay's north side, in conjunction with the planned closure of two existing locations.
The precise site has not yet been disclosed by the bank, but BMO says it will be near County Fair Mall.
According to a spokesperson, it will include "an expanded suite of services, upgraded banking hall, and drive-up ATM."
He said the decision is in response to customers' changing preferences in how they want to do their banking.
The new branch will open in early 2022.
BMO will then transfer its customers from the existing County Fair Mall and downtown Red River Road branches.
The Red River Road location has been closed since Jan. 4.
A sign on the door announced a temporary closure, saying it was due to concerns related to COVID-19.
The sign does not indicate a date for reopening.
