THUNDER BAY – Indigo will host a book signing on June 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. for Lost Between the Cracks: The Tale of Being Hardy, by ShaeMichelle Watson.
Lost Between the Cracks is a biography about trans Anishinaabekwe Elder Mona Hardy, who was from Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek.
She was an advocate, knowledge keeper, and a recipient of the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers.
Hardy was an essential figure in the local Indigenous community and a fixture for nearly 30 years in Thunder Bay patient care.
“She worked with me on her biography, a novella-format, humorous, and empathy-invoking read released this past October. Mona died this past February,” Watson said.
June 29 is Hardy’s birthday and Watson is excited to celebrate the important story of Anishinaabekwe Elder Mona Hardy.
“Celebrate the life story of this Indigenous hero. Lost Between the Cracks is a brilliant read, distilling Mona’s advocacy, legacy, knowledge and humour into a book that will make you feel like you’ve just had a cup of tea with her," Watson said.
“Hear Mona’s voice for yourself.”
