DULUTH, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats had a chance to reclaim a share of top spot in the Great Plains East Division.
The Duluth Huskies, however, weren’t willing to cooperate.
The Huskies scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on Wednesday night to break open a 4-2 contest, and went on to down the Border Cats 11-3.
The win gives Duluth a two-game lead in the standings over Thunder Bay.
Charlie Sutherland homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Huskies, who chased Thunder Bay starter Adam Metivier in the third, after he gave up four runs on six hits and three walks.
Parker Burgess took over with two outs in the third and was hammered for a pair of runs on two hits and a walk. His replacement, Carter Wall, was shelled, only managing to get one out while surrendering four runs.
Trey Fikes had a 2-for-3 night and scored a pair of runs for Thunder Bay, who begin a two-game set against Wausau on Thursday.
Thunder Bay is now two games back of Duluth in the Great Plains East.
