The Boulevard Lake Recreation Trail is now officially part of the Trans-Canada Trail through the city.
The two-kilometre section of trail on the west side of the lake has been rehabilitated and is now a part of the cross-country trail system. Thunder Bay Co-ordinator of Park Planning, Werner Schwar, said the trails provide a great opportunity to enjoy much of the city's natural beauty.
The total cost of upgrading the Boulevard Lake trail is about $200,000.
Kristen Spence, the Trans-Canada Trail Co-ordinator for Ontario, said that about 70 per cent of the Trans Canada Trail is complete.
The majority of the gaps that still exist are in Northwestern Ontario.
