UPDATE: Ontario Street standoff ends peacefully

Thunder Bay Police conclude a weapons call that led to a lengthy standoff in quiet fashion
Ontario Street Standoff
Police wrap up a standoff on Ontario Street on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016.

An Ontario Street standoff that lasted almost three hours has ended peacefully.

Thunder Bay Police say they've re-opened the area to the public, with neighbours saying a man was walked out of a house on the street into a police vehicle. Police have not confirmed an arrest in the case.

The initial notice to media, issued more than two hours after the incident began, said it was a weapons call.

Neighbours said police cordoned off a section of Ontario Street between Cornwall and Bay streets. The public was asked to stay away from the area.

Police say the investigation continues.
