THUNDER BAY - One of two men charged in connection to the disappearance of Alyssa Turnbull has been released on bail.
Brian Soos, 60, appeared before Justice of the Peace Nancy Tulloch on Friday for a bail hearing. Soos was ordered released under a $10,000 no deposit bail by his surety and $2,000 no deposit from Soos.
A publication ban is in place on all evidence presented during the bail hearing.
Soos was first charged in June 2022 with committing an indignity to human remains and obstruction of justice.
The charges relate to the disappearance of 26-year-old Alyssa Turnbull, who was first reported missing in April 2020 after she was last seen in the Nipigon area between March 23 and 25 the same year.
Nicholas Soos, 27, the son of Brian Soos, was also arrested and charged with committing an indignity to human remains and obstruction of justice. Nicholas Soos remains in custody and is scheduled to make another court appearance in August.
Turnbull’s remains have still not been found and the investigation is ongoing. However, the Ontario Provincial Police stated that the evidence points to foul play in her disappearance leading investigators to believe that she is likely deceased.
