THUNDER BAY -- A portion of Cumberland Street was blocked off Monday morning after a gas meter broke.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a report of a broken gas meter at the corner of Cumberland and Lorne streets just before 8 a.m.
On arrival, they discovered a meter had broken off and gas was emitting from the open line.
Crews blocked off Cumberland Street to prevent any possible ignition.
They were able to close off the line as the break was located above the valve.
Union has attended to make repairs and as a result, Cumberland Street has been reopened.
