Burke, Brar lead T-Wolves to second straight win

Burke scores 22 and Brar puts up 19 to lead LU to a second straight victory.

THUNDER BAY – A 27-point second quarter and continued good play from Kirpa Brar and Ally Burke earned the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team a second straight win on Saturday night.

Brar came off the bench to score 19 points, adding six rebounds, and Burke led all scorers with 22, including a trio of three-pointers, to lead the T-Wolves to a 68-62 win over the York Lions, evening their record at 2-2.

Rookie Kelly-Ann Coulombe scored seven points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Thunderwolves, who didn’t record their first win last season until the new year.

Kiara Leveridge had 17 to lead the Lions (0-4).

The Thunderwolves hit the road next weekend to take on Ottawa and Carleton.
